Netra Vidalaka is a eye procedure of application of medicated paste to the outer surface of the eye lids. The therapy give smoothening effect in burning sensation, discharge, watering, swelling in the eye, redness and foreign body sensation concerning the eye.
Application of medicated paste on the upper and lower eyelids for a stipulated time leaving the eye lashes is known as Vidalaka.

Mode of action of Vidalaka :
The medicine applied on the outer surface of eye lids are absorbed by the skin to the greater extent reaching to subcutaneous tissues and reduces local temperature there by relives the inflammation, impairing soothing effect and reliving pain since tissue contact time is more, vidalaka helps in large absorption of drugs will be enhanced.
Skin of eye is extremely thin subcutaneous fat is very sparse and stratum carenum layer of skin which acts as barrier is a single layer in lids, so absorption of drug through skin of eye lids will be very fast.
In vidalaka the paste of drugs is left for 20 minutes which provides more tissue contact time that accelerate the absorption.
